Toolkit for Next Generation Conservationists: A Lunchtime Discussion

Dr. Patricia Chapple Wright
Professor of Anthropology, Stony Brook University
Recipient of the 2014 Indianapolis Prize

Sarah Kariko
Visiting Scholar, Museum of Comparative Zoology, Harvard University
Research Director, Gossamer Labs

Drawing from field experiences in conservation work over the past twenty years, Wright and Kariko will discuss models that have been successful, while highlighting the challenges that continue to exist as we find ways to protect species and thrive together on our planet. Each will give brief presentations of their work: Wright studies wild lemurs and is the first woman to be awarded the Indianapolis Prize in recognition of her pioneering conservation work in Madagascar; Kariko studies spiders and negotiated the first venom accord between the Malagasy government and a pharmaceutical company. They will then engage students in lively discussion and discuss possible research opportunities.

LUNCH WILL BE PROVIDED
**RSVP IS REQUIRED**
