Info Session for Harvard Global Brigade’s Service Trip to Nicaragua
Date and Time
Location
Global Medical Brigades (GMB) is an organization that develops sustainable health initiatives and provides relief where there is limited access to healthcare. During J-term, the Harvard chapter of GMB takes 30 students and several HMS professors to a South American community where we set up a medical and public health unit. In the clinic, students assist in the triage and intake of patients, shadow doctors and dentists during consultations, and lead educational health seminars. During the second half of the 9-day brigade, students collaborate with community members on public health initiatives ranging from building latrines and concrete floors to ecostoves and water storage units. This experience affords volunteers the opportunity to make a tangible impact on communities while gaining real life experience in the field of international medicine and public health. For more information, come to our info session on September 15th at 8:30pm in Lamont’s Forum Room or visit our website at www.harvardbrigades.org.
